This season long term friends Barry-John McHenry and Barry Hallion decided to race in the Dunlop Fiat Uno Championship. They bought 2 cars and competed in the championship. They raced in Mondello Park in Kildare, Kirkistown in Northern Ireland, Anglesea in Wales and the Phoneix Park in Dublin. The two Raheny lads showed great pace but found reliability very hard task master. Maybe they were pushing their cars too hard but had too many Non Finishes to trouble the regular front runners. The highlight for Barry-John was being in 3rd place in the biggest race of the year the famous Phoneix Park motor races before out braking himself into the chicane and ending up in the trees with a wrecked car, Funnily enough that was also the low point of the year. A lot was learnt and the team will come back bigger and stronger next season with two totally rebuilt cars.
