Motor Company are delighted to support Alex Denning in the 2023 European GT4
Championship. Alex from Dublin will be racing an Aston Martin GT4 for British
based team Newbridge Motorsport. Alex’s first round will be this weekend in
Monza in Italy the famous Italian Grand Prix track. Alex is up against it with
52 cars being on track and this being his first GT Campaign the stakes are high
and the competition is fierce. Teams from all over Europe will be competing in
top brands such as Porsche, McLaren, Aston martin, Audi, Mercedes Benz, BMW,
Toyota and Chevrolet.
We here at
Dunshaughlin Motor Company know Alex well with him previously racing against
Barry-John in the Irish ST Fiesta Championship in both 2020 and 2021. In fact
their relationship goes back before then as Barry-John raced Alex’s dad Liam in
2009 in the Dunlop Abarth cup and raced his Uncle John for many years in
Abarths’ Fiesta Zetecs and Fiesta ST’s. Alex came 2nd in 2020 and 1st
in 2021 while Barry-John finished both campaigns in 5th place. From
the get go it was blatantly obvious that Alex had the speed but he just needed
to real in the raw talent and show consistency and patience in his races. He
has done that now in spades and proved so last season by coming 2nd overall
in the prestigious Mini JCW Championship one of Britain’s most competitive championships.
He had more wins than anyone else with 7 wins to his name in the season. This
also helped him win the Motorsport Ireland young driver award which brings with
it a cheque for €50,000. He was also selected to be an Aston Martin Junior
Driver which means he will get support and tuition from Aston Martin.
